Black Lives in the Hudson Valley: Tracing History, Memory and Family

June 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the African American Historical Society of Rockland County for a presentation of “Black Lives in the Hudson Valley: Tracing History, Memory and Family – Reflecting on Juneteenth & America 250.”  Thursday, June 25. 6:30-8PM at the Nyack Library.  Don’t miss this presentation exploring the lives, labor, and experiences of Black communities in Rockland County during the era of the American Revolution. Through history and genealogy, this program considers how stories are preserved, how they are lost, and how we begin to reclaim them—tracing family histories and piecing together lives not fully recorded.  Participants will learn more about approaches to working with traditional records while also moving beyond them in the search for Black family histories.  FREE Event!
