The county’s extensive park system is designated as a Preserve America Community made up of over 3,000 acres within 30 parks.
Visit the second-largest state park in New York – Harriman State Park. With over 200 miles of hiking trails, visitors of all ages and levels can immerse themselves in forest walks, along lake fronts, or exposed mountain profiles.
Take a bike ride along the shared use path across the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge which at 3.6 miles, is one of the longest bicycle/pedestrian paths in the nation.
Rockland County is host to the annual Gran Fondo NY World Championship Bike Race which begins in New York City and travels throughout the Palisades before ending in Fort Lee, NJ.
Rockland is home to a wide range of public, semi-private and private golf courses for players of all ages and levels. Tee-off at Blue Hill Golf Club and enjoy 27-holes of golf overlooking Lake Tappan in Pearl River.
Visit Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern that features 6,894 yards of play from some of the longest tees for a par 72.
Water enthusiasts can enjoy kayaking and bird watching along the Piermont Marsh – part of the Hudson River Nasional Estuarine Preserve or charter a boat and sail across the majestic Hudson River with Nyack Boat Charter.
You can also enjoy fishing and swimming at one of Rockland’s many parks and lakes.
