Don’t miss the Hike Through History to the Letchworth Village Reservoirs. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025. 9AM-12PM. Presented by the Historical Society of Rockland County, the hike will begin on paved and woods roads and trails at Harriman State Park to the mountain reservoirs that once provided the water supply to Letchworth Village. Hike leaders Gordon Wren and Tony Benedict will talk about Letchworth, founded by William Pryor Letchworth in 1908 and operated as a New York State custodial institution until it closed in 1996, and point out other historic and scenic spots along the Long Path and Woodtown Road.
