Welcome to Rockland County!

Rockland County is the southernmost county situated on the west side of the Hudson River and is the smallest county by area in New York State outside New York City. A primarily residential, suburban community, Rockland County has 338,329 residents (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020) making it the third most densely populated county outside New York City within the state.

Rockland County is designated as a Preserve America Community, and nearly a third of the county's area is parkland. Only 30 miles from New York City, the county is central to New Jersey, Connecticut, and Westchester County, and is easily accessible via the New York State Thruway, Palisades Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike/Garden State Parkway, as well as Metro-North Railroad/New Jersey Transit train service.

Rockland County's diverse and thriving economy includes an A+ Bond Rating (Fitch Ratings, 2022), a strong tourism sector, and unique filming opportunities, all of which make it a great place to live, work and visit.
