Events Submission Policy

Please review the guidelines and protocols below prior to submitting events to the Rockland County Department of Tourism. All events submitted will be reviewed and considered for posting on www.explorerocklandny.com by the Rockland County Department of Tourism.

GUIDELINES

The purpose of the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) website calendar is to promote events and attractions in Rockland County that may be of interest to both residents and tourists, and have the potential to attract visitors from the tri-state area. Tourism provides a direct economic benefit to the area and creates the most impact when visitors travel 50 or more miles away and/or stay overnight.

Such events include, but are not limited to, music concerts, theater performances, street fairs, festivals, historic events, dance, museum and/or art exhibitions, parades, recreational activities and public sporting events.

PLEASE NOTE: Events that are invitation-only, fundraising galas or benefits, classes and educational workshops are generally not posted. Please contact the Rockland County Department of Tourism for more information.

All events submitted to the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) are subject to public disclosure, pursuant applicable law, federal, state or local law and regulations. The Rockland County Department of Tourism reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed in violation of the Department’s guidelines or applicable law, regulation or policy.

GENERAL 

In order for an event to be considered for publication on the website, the event must be open to the public, have the potential for visitor involvement, and attract visitors from across the tri-state region. Submissions must be received at least two (2) weeks in advance.  Listings are free and inclusion on the website is at the discretion of the Rockland County Department of Tourism.  All events  submitted for consideration to be posted on the Rockland County Department of Tourism’s website (ExploreRocklandNY.com) will be reviewed during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM, except for holidays).  Events submitted after normal business hours, on Fridays, weekends and holidays will not be reviewed for posting until the following business day.

NON-ACCEPTABLE CONTENT

Events submitted to the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) calendar containing any of the following forms of content WILL NOT be posted:

• Profane language or content
• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of age, alienage, citizenship, national origin, color, race, creed, religion, disability, familial status, gender, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, sexual orientation or other legally protected class
• Sexual content or links to sexual content
• Solicitation of sales not related to visitor interests or event ticket sales
• Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
• Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems
• Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party

MODERATION

All event posting will be moderated by a staff member of the Rockland County Tourism Department, who will review and consider all event submissions for conformance with these guidelines. Additionally, repeated submissions – plausibly deemed excessive may be denied.

ONGOING LENGTH OF EVENT

Ongoing events may be posted on the Rockland County Department of Tourism’s website (ExploreRocklandNY.com) event calendar for up to one (1) year as of original date of submission. Any events that extend beyond one (1) year from original date of submission must be resubmitted to the Rockland County Department of Tourism.

AUTHOR IDENTIFICATION

All event submitters will be clearly identified by their event submissions. Anonymous posting of events will not be accepted. All event postings must be accompanied by valid contact information including a name, email address, and phone number.

USE OF CONTACT INFORMATION

Submitters expressly authorize the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) to use any contact information submitted via event postings in its contact database and email subscriptions, including photographs. By submitting an event, you consent to receiving emails and subscribed content from the Rockland County Department of Tourism.

The ExploreRocklandNY.com events calendar is provided by the Rockland County Department of Tourism as a service to Rockland County residents and visitors. Though the calendar is moderated for posting events which comply with these guidelines, the Rockland County Department of Tourism does not represent any organization submitting an event. If submission includes a link to an external website, the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) does not control the content or operation of that website. Furthermore, the Rockland County Department of Tourism (ExploreRocklandNY.com) does not guarantee the authenticity, accuracy, appropriateness or security of the link, website or content linked thereto, and urges all users of ExploreRocklandNY.com to exercise appropriate caution when accessing any unfamiliar website.
