SUMMARY:Fugs Film!
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss River Town Film’s presentation of “Fugs Film!” Wednesday\, April 22\, 2026. 8PM. Formed in New York’s bohemian Lower East Side in 1964\, the Fugs were poet musicians who didn’t just reflect their time\, they nurtured it. Using musical satire to explore boundaries of free speech and antagonize the establishment\, they ignited an idea that was soon taken up by groups such as The Mothers of Invention\, Country Joe and the Fish\, and the MC5.  Founded by Ed Sanders\, a principal figure of the ‘60s counter culture\, along with fellow poet and artist Tuli Kupferberg and drummer Ken Weaver\, the Fugs connected a folkie ethos to rock and roll and sound collage\, and at times tapped the zeitgeist with popular hits like “Slum Goddess” and “Supergirl.” Produced and directed by Chuck Smith. Co-Produced by Ed Sanders and Myles Aronowitz. Meet the Filmmaker: Director Chuck Smith & Co-Producer Myles Aronowitz will discuss the film with the audience. CLICK HERE for details!

DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss Rivertown Film’s presentation of Secret Mall Apartment.  July 23\, 2025 at 8PM.  Directed by Jeremy Workman. 2024\, USA\, 91 minutes.  In 2003\, eight young Rhode Islanders created a secret apartment in a hidden space inside the Providence Place Mall and lived in it for four years\, filming everything along the way. They snuck in furniture\, tapped into the mall’s electricity\, and even secretly constructed a brick wall with a locking door\, smuggling in over 2 tons of cinderblock. Far more than just a wild prank\, the secret apartment became a deeply meaningful place for all its inhabitants – a personal expression of defiance against local gentrification\, a boundary-pushing work of public/private art\, and finally\, a 750 square foot space that sticks it to the man!  Tickets on sale!  CLICK HERE for details.
