Saturday\, Sept. 27\, 2025. 9AM-12PM.  Presented by the Historical Society of Rockland County\, the hike will begin on paved and woods roads and trails at Harriman State Park to the mountain reservoirs that once provided the water supply to Letchworth Village. Hike leaders Gordon Wren and Tony Benedict will talk about Letchworth\, founded by William Pryor Letchworth in 1908 and operated as a New York State custodial institution until it closed in 1996\, and point out other historic and scenic spots along the Long Path and Woodtown Road. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Barnyard Tales & Activities Day.  Sunday\, Aug. 24\, 2025. Performances at 1PM & 3PM at the Historical Society of Rockland County. Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk returns to the HSRC to present “Farm Fables of Old Rockland”—tales people living in our county in the 19th century would have enjoyed—with a mix of riddles and stories kids can help act out. Crafts and games will be available in the barnyard\, and the Blauvelt House will be open for tours throughout the day. Crafts include making paper farm animals\, tin-punching\, and making beaded corncobs. Games include cornhole throw\, 9 pin bowling\, and colonial hoop rolling.
